In Mother Jones by Bruce Falconer (Yes, Republicans Can) 19, 2008. Presidential candidate Obama said, “We’re not red states or blue states; were the United States.” And with that quote, Mr. Obama began to sway moderate and rabid Republicans alike toward the Democratic ticket. Mr. Falconer profiles the fight over traditional Republican strongholds like Virginia, Montana, Missouri and Colorado. The Obama campaign believes that if they can win Iowa and the states won by Kerry in 2004 and knockoff a couple of these traditional red states they will win the White House.
